Are you overwhelmed with all the “wellness” advice out there?
From special diets to best exercise regimes and all the products sold to you in-between - it can be difficult to discern exactly what you need to just have the best day ever.
Isn’t that always the goal deep down? Feel the best ever to be the best ever and spread the best ever vibes?
If your answer to that question is yes, and you just want to get right down to the precise protocol on exactly how to achieve it - you’re going to use the following few paragraphs as your guidebook for life.
For those of you who live under a rock, David Wolfe is a health, eco, nutrition, and natural beauty expert. As one of the world’s top CEOs, ambassadors, celebrities, athletes, artists, and the real superheroes of this planet - I, among countless others, look to David for advice on all things wellness. He has never failed to deliver the most effective and progressive information delivered in only the most thoughtful and holistic way possible.
He’s also all about having “The Best Day Ever”.
For those of you who don’t have the time to take his Certified Nutrition Course (which I can honestly say transformed my life for the better), or read all of his fabulous newsletters (which come with the most interesting and informative FREE documentary links) - here’s what you need to know to upgrade your day, D. Wolfe style:
Wake up like…
“You’ve got to tell yourself it’s the best day ever.”
David stresses the importance of positive affirmations and not only that, but also clarifying and spelling it out for yourself EXACTLY what your best day ever looks and feels like.
Why do you want this to be the best day ever?
How do you have to feel for this to be the best day ever?
What do you have to do for this to be the best day ever?
Who do you need to connect with for this to be the best day ever?
Etc. etc. etc.
Make it crystal clear for yourself, and then TELL yourself it’s happening. Visualize, articulate, do.
Popping pills like…
“We are toxic.”
David gets straight to the point on this one, and highlights the importance of detoxification first thing in the morning.
What’s the magic supplement?
But no - not the kind you’re thinking.
We’ve all heard of “Activated Coconut Charcoal” - but this is NOT the stuff that David recommends - at least not on a daily or consistent basis. It’s too aggressive on your system and will likely cause digestive disturbances - including constipation.
Instead, the kind of charcoal you should be opting for is none other than birch charcoal - it’s much gentler and more effective for ridding the body of toxins. Plus, he claims it can be taken forever and always.
There aren’t a lot of places you can find this stuff - so don’t worry, I asked for his source. David shares there are 2 trustworthy and high-quality brands that carry it:
Now here’s a quick, easy & free way to ensure your day starts off on the best foot ever: “Take 10 deep diaphragmatic breaths.”
While supplements and superfoods are a great level-up to your diet, David isn’t ignorant to the importance of creating the space and love for those upgrades to flourish.
If nothing else, practice mindful breathwork for even just a few minutes each day and you’ll be surprised at how your entire life can and will transform.
Fuelling up for the best day ever
Amongst all the eat this, don’t eat that hocus-pocus out there, it can be extremely difficult to discern exactly how to eat to feel the best ever.
Here’s where to start: your gut. It’s your second brain and basically at the root of all joy and/or evil.
Listen to your gut, they say.
Well, David says: feed your gut carefully.
He’s a huge believer in Donna Gates Body Ecology system of healing, which proposes that the key to health and longevity starts with a flourishing inner ecosystem living inside your intestines.
Food combination principals play a major role in this, and the major takeaway he shared with me has to do with everyone’s favourite health buzzword: PROBIOTICS!
What does that look like for you?
Ideally, at least one fermented food a day.
David likes live sauerkraut as an accessible (and fairly inexpensive and/or easy to make example).
For more intensive healing of the gut, when working with particular digestive tract issues, you’ll have a fermented food with each and every meal per day, and be cautious with food combining.
Preferably, a fermented food + a fat, a fermented food + a protein, etc.
Basically, if you’re tummy needs some extra gentle healing - you shouldn’t actually “balance” your plate with all things: carbs, fat, protein, as that will overwhelm an inflamed GI tract.
Best clean ever?
As for green beauty products, David wholeheartedly raves about none other than Best Skin Ever by Living Libations.
This one just sounds perfectly intuitive - and using it is too. I’ve always loved their simply nourishing and rich products - this Sea Buckthorn one in particular as it works as a cleanser and moisturizer...all in one.
Because the best day ever doesn’t involve an overly-complicated skincare regime.
Supercharge your cells
What’s at the core of a healthy being? Trillions of healthy cells. At the core of each are mitochondria, which metabolize and break down carbohydrates and fatty acids in order to generate energy.
Thus, optimized mitochondria make for an optimized, energetic day.
While there’s countless “energy-boosting” supplements and regimes being marketed to us each and every moment, David advises to cut through the bogus and get right down to the source of it all.
Nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NADH) is where it’s at. It’s a form of vitamin B3 (niacin), and it increases the rate of chemical reactions in our mitochondria as well as helps the cell repair the cellular genetic material (read more here).
I’ve started taking 100ml daily and while I do get the “Niacin flush” reaction - apparently it’s totally normal and your body can work it’s way up to taking much greater doses for a wide variety of particular healing benefits. It’s also great for one of David’s all-time favourite “buzzwords”: detox!
