Introducing the MISFITSTUDIO x FORTNIGHT Collection

A New Kind of Movement Wear. Pieces to Move, Sweat and Dance In.

I've been a fan of the MISFITSTUDIO for years now - there's something uniquely special about the space, the movement classes, and the incredibly beautiful and inspiring teachers!

You walk out operating on a higher plane, and I always feel the need to replicate more of that goodness in my life - whether it's the reminder of how fab Fleetwood Mac is (thank you Amber for always having the best soundtrack in your classes!), or how great loads of funky plants and beeswax candles look when delightfully set-up amongst an alter.

Beyond that, I also leave the classes pretending I'm just as perfect and BEAMING hip vibes like the teachers at the studio.

Now, I kinda can...and you can too.

Or, at least dress like them.

For the first time ever, MISFITSTUDIO, the beloved movement studio in Toronto has collaborated with Fortnight Lingerie, the Toronto-based, handmade intimates line, to create a unique collection of movement wear. Pieces to move, sweat and dance in, this collection evolved through a mutual desire to celebrate the magic of movement and the beauty of women.

Amber Joliat, creator of MISFITSTUDIO and Christina Remenyi, founder and designer of Fortnight Lingerie have run their businesses since 2010 and are deeply rooted in the Toronto community. Both Amber and Christina prioritize a women supporting women philosophy and have built a loyal following.

The inspiration behind the MISFITSTUDIO x FORTNIGHT movement wear collection came from Amber and Christina’s alignment and admiration for the body and their desire to find ways to improve the relationship women have with their physical and emotional selves.

"For years I’ve worn Fortnight pieces while teaching my classes and, not teaching out in the world.  The fit, the feel, the way they flow aligns with my philosophy. It seemed to be a natural next step to evolve the classic and timeless shapes Fortnight offers into actual movement wear. I approached Christina with the idea and the rest is history! We had a shared vision and began the collaboration process."

"Feeling very inspired by her idea I started searching and very serendipitously, found that one of our local suppliers had recently introduced crushed, stretch velvet in their latest collection. We knew immediately the timing was right and that we were onto something special."

- Christina

Set to launch on June 15th, the four piece black velvet collection includes a cutout bodysuit, longline bra, fold-over high waist bottoms, and racer bodysuit. The pieces are durable, machine washable and meant to be worn over and over both in and out of class. The fabric hugs and supports the body while still having excellent flexibility with movement. The pieces range from $68 - $168 CAD and are available for purchase at MISFITSTUDIO’s two locations (88 Ossington Avenue and 761 Queen Street West) and online at fortnightlingerie.com.

I totally agree with Amber as she describes the collection as elegant, beautiful, unique. There's something incredibly sultry about it, but without feeling over-the-top.

Best of all, it's for "EveryBODY! A body who wants to feel beautiful, strong and expressive in her own skin while sweating and moving." as Amber beautifully puts.

I am so excited to be a little closer to embodying the contagious class act that is Misfits and strut my stuff in this new collection...
